Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Last night, we went out to the bars, and the windchills were in the negatives. I am not sure exactly how low, but I know it was in the negatives. I would say somewhere between -5 and -10 degrees Fahrenheit. We had to wait in line for about a half hour, maybe more or less, but we were outside waiting to get in. I also had alcohol in my system. Could I have frostbite from this? I will submit a picture of my ears. They feel hot and look red. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I have checked all the attached photos (the attachments are removed to protect the patient's identity). It would be best if you did not worry; there is no evidence that you have frostbite. When have these photos been taken? Just after the exposure or a few hours after? Have you noticed any pale color in the ears? Excessive dryness? Any pain?

I suggest you to warm the ears with a warm water massage. Then cover them with a wool hat or hood.

Please answer my questions to exclude frostbite completely.

I hope you find it helpful.

Kind regards.
