Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 62-year-old male diagnosed with Glioblastoma multiforme (WHO grade IV) two years back. Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
We are elated to have you onboard at icliniq.
From your description, I infer that you are a 62-year-old gentleman with a recurrent Glioblastoma (WHO grade 4 Glioma, GBM) positive for MGMT (O(6)-Methylguanine-DNA-methyltransferase) methylation. Also, you had a neurocognitive dysfunction and right-hand dysfunction two years back. You were treated with surgery, radiation, and tablet Temozolomide as per standard regimen, followed by 12 cycles of adjuvant Temozolomide. You were then approximately eight months off therapy until you experienced recurrence.
Two months back, your MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) demonstrated recurrence and clinically there was a decline in speech and language dysfunction along with impaired use of the right hand. You were then started on treatment with tablets Bevacizumab plus Temozolomide and since then a clinical improvement was noticed in both speech (which they describe as near baseline) and improved use of the right hand (which they describe as back to baseline). Additionally, it can be noted that the protrusion over the craniotomy area has regressed as well.
Please feel free to reach me again, in case of any further doubts.
Thank you.
