Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I accidentally sliced my bottom gum off the front of my bottom front teeth months ago, but it has not completely grown back or reattached. It still moves if I push my tongue against it. Is there a gum glue I could buy, or do I need to see a dentist to address it?

Kindly help.

Hi,

We welcome you to icliniq family.

I appreciate the confidence you place in me for your healthcare consultation.

I understand your concern.

Gum tears usually heal on their own within a maximum of two weeks. If it has not healed yet, there may be factors causing further injury, such as aggressive brushing, smoking, alcohol consumption, constant disturbance of the cut, or existing gum infections. It is important to avoid these factors. Unfortunately, there are no gum glues available in the market. You need to visit your nearby dentist for a thorough check-up of your gums. Here are my suggestions:

  1. Gum massages with clean fingers after brushing and rinsing with lukewarm salt water three times daily can help with healing.
  2. Applying Rexidin M Forte Gel (a combination of Chlorhexidine gluconate, Lidocaine, and Metronidazole) 15 grams three to four times daily can reduce gum inflammation.
  3. Instructions for using the gel: Apply a small amount to the affected gums and massage gently in circular motions for one minute. Leave it on for five to seven minutes, then rinse your mouth with plain water. One tube of the gel should last about a week. If the issue persists after this, seek dental attention immediately.

Hope I have clarified your query. I will be happy to help you further.

Thank you.
