Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been experiencing swelling and pain in the gum area at the back of my third molar teeth for four days. It started when I was eating a chip and felt a sensation in my gum as the tip of the chip made contact. There is no bleeding. I have tried everything but the pain keeps on increasing. I use Benzocaine 20 percent. Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
I have seen the picture of your gums (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity) and it appears that your third molar has not fully erupted. In this case, I suggest you visit a dentist and take an X-ray of the molar. Additionally, you should inquire about teeth cleaning so that the pouch present at the back of the tooth can be healed properly. To avoid swelling, I suggest you try the following home remedies:
1. Rinse your mouth with a mixture of salt and turmeric water.
2 . Maintain proper oral hygiene.
3. Avoid eating spicy foods.
4. Eat warm food.
5. Do not open your mouth too much.
6. Keep cold water in your mouth or use an ice pack on the face near the molar.
7. Avoid eating torn or hard food items.
I hope this helps you. Do get back in case of any further queries.
Regards.
