Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am experiencing rapid hair loss and itchiness on my scalp. Can you suggest some remedies?
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Hope you are doing well.
I have gone through the details and image provided from your end (the attachment removed to protect the patient's identity).
Hair loss may be caused by multiple factors, including a genetic history of hair loss, hormonal fluctuations, vitamin deficiencies, dandruff, stress, and sleep concerns. As you have mentioned, itching on the scalp, based on the image, is dandruff, also called seborrheic capitis. It may also be due to hormonal fluctuations, wearing helmets for long hours, or sweat stagnation on the scalp.
This may also be one reason for hair loss. So, I suggest you follow the instructions mentioned below.
1. Use a good anti-hairfall serum at night on a full scalp, keep it overnight, and wash it off in the morning. Continue the same for at least six months for the best results.
2. Use a Ketoconazole (antifungal) shampoo once every three days to cleanse the full scalp. Apply to a wet scalp, massage, leave on for five minutes, and wash off. Continue for four to six months.
3. To reduce the itching, take a tablet of Levocet M (antiallergic) at night after dinner for one week.
4. Take a capsule of Itraconazole (antifungal) 200mg daily after dinner for two weeks.
5. Take a capsule of Follihair (nutritional supplement) after breakfast daily for three months. This multivitamin helps strengthen hair roots.
6. It is important to keep the scalp devoid of stagnant moisture and sweat by dabbing off excess sweat using a clean towel, cleaning the helmet, and sun-exposing it.
7. Use a combination of three parts: coconut oil, two parts castor oil, and one capsule of Evion 400 (Vitamin E), broken open and mixed with the other two oils. It may be used on the scalp once a week, kept for 30 minutes, and washed off with shampoo.
8. Stress management, sleep regularization, and consuming a diet with protein-rich food like sprouted beans, soya chunks, quinoa, chicken breasts, and egg whites are important.
Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medications with their consent.
I hope I could be of help.
Take care.
Thank you.
