What is the treatment for weak, dry, and brittle hair?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am writing regarding concerns with my hair. I have experienced severe breakage, and my hair has not grown for the past several years. Within the last year, it has gotten significantly worse. It is thin, breaks, and does not grow. The scalp portion tends to be very oily, and the length is dry and brittle. It feels like dry straw in the majority of the sections. I have been taking Nutrobal for about eight months. I see some new growth around my face, but the length, fullness, and texture have not changed. It continues to break and fall out. I have not color-treated my hair in over a year. I use a leave-in conditioner and heat protectant. I have tried to skip washing daily, but the scalp is so oily that it weighs down my thin hair and looks dirty.

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

The cause of hair loss could be hormonal fluctuations, nutritional deficiency, stress, certain medications, use of harsh shampoos, or insufficient protein intake. Investigations to be done are vitamin B12, vitamin D3 levels, serum zinc, serum calcium, serum ferritin levels, and thyroid profile.

The treatment plan includes:

  1. Take Tablet Zincovit 110 mg once a day after dinner for 15 days.

  2. Apply Q sera hair serum in the morning for three months.

  3. Mildly Ahf shampoo twice weekly for six weeks.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.

Preventive measures

1. Avoid harsh shampoos loaded with chemicals. 2. Eliminate stress.

Regarding follow up

Follow up after three weeks with reports.
