Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 17-year-old male and have had hair loss in the last few years. Recently, my hair has started to recede, which is really strange for my age. Currently, I am using Ketoconazole shampoo and Min-x lotion to stop my hair loss. There are two questions. A lot of my hair falls when I use shampoo in the shower. Is it normal? I take a shower twice a week. And what do you recommend for me to stop my hair loss? Well, after using all these, my hair still continues to recede.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com
I understand your concern.
Hairfall of around 100 hairs a day is normal, but since you have a receding hairline, it could be male-pattern baldness. You can use sulfate-free shampoos, and it will take at least a year for visible change to take place with the use of Minoxidil. There could be hair fall in the first three months, but continue using it regularly, and you will see visible results. If still not controlled, you can supplement with PRP (protein-rich platelets) or oral finasteride.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Regards.
