How to address persistent hair fall issues?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 23-year-old male, weighing 150 pounds with a height of 5 feet 9 inches, and experiencing persistent hair fall issues that began three years ago after contracting typhoid fever. Despite trying various remedies like Genogro 5 percent, H N F formula capsule, onion juice, and different oils, the problem persists. I am seeking effective suggestions to address this ongoing hair fall concern. Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

It is considered normal for 75 to 100 hairs to fall daily. Hair loss should only be a concern if the number exceeds this range. Procedures like straightening can weaken the hair roots. Conditions such as fever, typhoid (a severe and potentially life-threatening illness), malaria (a parasitic infection), and thyroid issues can also contribute to hair fall, although these are less common. In males, androgenic alopecia is often the primary cause. It is a genetically determined disorder marked by the gradual conversion of terminal hairs into indeterminate and finally into vellus hairs (fine, short, and lightly pigmented hair).

For your condition, I suggest you use 5 percent Minoxidil lotion (Xenogrow 5 percent) with Finasteride (Morr-F lotion) – apply 1 ml locally twice daily. Note that you may experience increased hair fall during the initial two months, but continue the treatment.

Minoxidil is safe and needs continuous use for sustained benefits. You can continue using it for as long as you desire medical treatment for your hair loss. Additionally, I suggest taking vitamin supplements like Tab Xtraglo (Biotin, copper, Iron, selenium, Zinc, L-cysteine, L-lysine, and Methionine) once daily for six months. Please use all medications after consulting your GP or a nearby dermatologist. Kindly provide a review after one month.

I hope this helps.

Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
