What could cause hair thinning and loss in teen girls?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am an 18-year-old female, and I started to lose my hair about five months ago. Also, now my forehead has started to recede, and I have no idea what to do. I am stressed, and I went to the doctor and had blood work done. They said all my levels are normal and that my iron levels are at 40 and are normal. What do I do? I always get an itchy head, and my hair gets extremely thinner. I have tried telling my parents, but they keep ignoring me, and it is making me feel even worse. My forehead has now gotten bigger. I do not understand how or why.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I do understand your concern.

I suggest you relax and make yourself stress free. 100 hair fall in a day is considered normal. Increase protein intake in your diet and eliminate stress. Avoid tight ponytails and wash scalp with Mildy AHF (anti-hair fall) shampoo twice weekly for six weeks. Apply Folirich (peptides and aminoacids) hair growth serum at night for two months.

Do not use harsh shampoos loaded with chemicals, and do not comb wet hair. Avoid hot shower baths and comb hair gently. Avoid use of hot iron straightener blow dryer. Eat foods rich in antioxidants, zinc, omega-3 fatty acids, protein, biotin, vitamins, and iron. Exercise daily. Do follow up for any doubts.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
