Patient's Query

Hello,

I am a 27-year-old female, and approximately six hours ago, I accidentally hit the back of my head against a wall three times in a row. Although it was quite painful initially, I did not experience any visual disturbances such as seeing "stars out of my eyes." I promptly laid down to calm myself. Since the incident, I have applied ice a couple of times for 10-15 minutes each, and now I am experiencing some low-grade pain and numbness at the point of impact. The discomfort is not severe enough to require painkillers, and I believe it is surface pain. I can walk and talk normally, and my mother has not noticed any changes in my behavior. However, I am still feeling very anxious and scared, concerned about the possibility of slow internal bleeding.

What are the chances of this situation developing into something serious? Should I be concerned? Please clarify.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

While the possibility of internal bleeding after hitting your head exists, symptoms typically manifest within a few hours to a day. Signs to watch for include persistent headaches, vomiting, confusion, seizures, and loss of consciousness. Based on the information provided, it seems you are not currently experiencing these concerning symptoms. I would suggest you monitor your condition closely and seek medical attention if any worrisome signs arise. Refrain from activities that might pose a risk of further head injury until you receive clearance from a healthcare provider.

Generally, the likelihood of a minor head injury like yours escalating into a serious issue is low. However, when it comes to head injuries, it is prudent to prioritize caution. If any doubts or concerns persist, I would suggest you consult with a neurologist and consider a head CT (computed tomography) scan for evaluation is advisable.

Take care and be vigilant about your well-being.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Regards.
