Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have a H. Pylori infection with an ulcer and take Amoxycillin 500 mg and Norflox-TZ (Tinidazole) every 12 hours. My body responds well to the above antibiotics but has severe heartburn. I am taking Famotidine 40 mg twice daily, as my body is not tolerating other antibiotics and PPI, like Omeprazole or Rabeprazole, with stomach pain and severe shortness of breath. So what can I do to decrease this extreme mouth-to-anus burning? Please help.
Thanks.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Continue your antibiotics for a total of two weeks. Famotidine is good, but tolerating Pantoprazole or Dexlansoprazole 30 mg half an hour before breakfast will help you. Regular antacid syrup like Gaviscon (Sodium alginate)10 ml after every meal would help you too. As mentioned above, acid suppression medicine and antacids can be used for four weeks. Your symptoms will resolve with these medicines. Consult a specialist doctor and take medications with their consent.
I hope this information will help you.
Thanks,
