What is the effective treatment for my bleeding piles?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 37-year-old male. Last few days I am suffering from hemorrhoids near the external region of the anus. It is paining very badly with some bleeding while passing the stool. My anus has become tight and swollen. Usually, I do not suffer from hemorrhoids but once or twice a year I suffer from hemorrhoids. Why does it happen? What to do? I lifted some water jars, is it due to lifting heavy jars?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your query and can understand your health concern. Hemorrhoids are a chronic condition that needs proper treatment; otherwise, they continue to increase with time. As you have mentioned that you also have pain, so it could be a fissure. I suggest you consult a surgeon so a proper proctoscopic examination can be performed to determine what it is and, if it is hemorrhoids, which grade.

Sometimes it also needs surgery in advanced stages. So examination is necessary.

  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Avoid sitting in one place for a long time.
  • Avoid spicy, oily food.
  • Take plenty of fiber in your diet in the form of green leafy vegetables, whole grains, oats, salads, etc.
  • Avoid tea, coffee, junk food, and soft beverages.
  • Avoid smoking and alcohol if you are used to it.
  • Do a sitz bath twice daily. It will give you some relief.
  • Try to avoid constipation by taking some laxative syrup at bedtime.
  • You can apply 2 % Diltiazem gel in and around the anus twice daily.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.
