Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have developed herpes in the eyes, genitals, and mouth. I contracted this condition through my previous partner and touched my eyes with contaminated fingers. I was experiencing itchiness in the lip and therefore got myself tested. I did not realize a lump had developed on my lip. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query, and I can understand your concern.

Herpes is a viral infection that happens due to the reactivation of latent chickenpox infection when immunity falls. I would suggest you take:

  1. Tablet Valacyclovir 1 gm thrice daily for one week. Consult a specialist doctor and take these medications with their consent.

  2. Tablet Bilastine (Anhydrous colloidal silica) 10 mg, one tablet daily at night for five days.

Are there any lesions or blisters? Is it oozing? Do you have a tingling sensation? Are your genitals itchy? Do you have burning urination? Have you tested for HSV 1/2 IgG (herpes simplex virus antibody test) and IgM (immunoglobulin M)?

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Yes, itching is present in the genital region, and two small sores have formed. A herpes test was done online and came back positive. I have a little burning sensation while urinating.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query, and I can understand your concern.

An ocular variant of herpes is rare. Ocular herpes and encephalitis due to HSV 1 (herpes simplex virus) occur due to the reactivation of the latent herpes virus. Aggravation factors are stress, immune system status, psychological trauma, illness, and fever. Have you checked your fasting blood sugar level? Did you have unprotected or unsafe sex? Did you use any barriers? Around 67 percent of people under 50 years are infected by HSV 1. Do you have any other illnesses? HSV 1 is contagious during the active blister stage, and carries a risk of infection to your partner. Gold standard test with viral culture and PCR (polymerase chain reaction) is mandatory to rule out possible causes.

2. Do you have cold sores near your mouth?

3. Is your partner presenting with similar complaints?

4. Do you have a fever?

5. Are symptoms triggered by sunlight?

I suggest you apply Cidofovir one percent gel at night for seven days. Consult a specialist doctor and take these medications with their consent. Do not scratch the bump to prevent scarring. It takes seven to ten days for lesions to heal. Kapsi gel (Capsaicin) is applied once the skin is completely healed to relieve pain. Further information will be needed to arrive at a diagnosis. Consult a specialist doctor and take these medications with their consent.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
