Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am a woman of 59. I have been experiencing frequent and bothersome hot flashes, and my symptoms have led me to discuss potential solutions with you. Fezolinetant was suggested as a possible option, and I am interested in learning more about its benefits and risks. I would like to understand how it compares to hormone replacement therapy, as I am exploring options for managing these symptoms. These heatwaves have been keeping me up at night lately too. Could you provide some insights based on my health history and symptoms?
Thank you.
Hi,
We welcome you to icliniq family.
I appreciate the confidence you place in me for your healthcare consultation.
Actually, hot flashes are very common after menopause. Most women experience hot flashes due to decreased hormone levels in their ovaries. To prevent that, medicine is given. In your case, they have prescribed you Fezolinetant, which works perfectly. It does not have any severe side effects, only mild ones like vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, and all. So, you can continue taking it, and if you experience any side effects, we can shift to hormone replacement therapy. As I mentioned, hormone levels decrease after menopause, which is why we give hormone replacement therapy to prevent hot flashes. If Fezolinetant fails to prevent your symptoms, then you can go for hormone replacement therapy.
I hope this has helped you. Please feel free to reach me again, in case of further queries.
Thank you.
