Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I was diagnosed with human metapneumovirus (HMPV) a few years ago, and I have been on treatment. I am still concerned about my ongoing symptoms and overall health. Along with HMPV, I have rare medical conditions like idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and mixed connective tissue disease, which make managing my health even more complicated. I have been taking medications like corticosteroids for inflammation and antifibrotics for my lung condition, but I continue to experience shortness of breath, persistent coughing, and fatigue. Could these symptoms still be linked to HMPV, or are my rare conditions worsening? I have also noticed that my energy levels are very low, and even simple tasks leave me feeling exhausted. I am worried about the potential long-term impact of HMPV on my lungs given my preexisting fibrosis. Should I be undergoing regular imaging or tests to monitor my lung function? Are there any new treatments or approaches that could better address the combined effects of my conditions? Lastly, what can I do to strengthen my immune system and prevent further complications?
Please help me.
Thanks.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
The idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and connective tissue disease could be worsening. I do not think your symptoms are related to late complications of human metapneumovirus (HMPV). Are you seeing a respiratory physician? How are your oxygen saturation levels? The two conditions are chronic and could get worse. I think the focus should be on them, not the HMPV.
I suggest the following for you.
I hope this information helps you.
Feel free to ask further queries.
Thank you.
