Hyperparathyroidism occurs when the parathyroid glands are resulting in overproduction of parathyroid hormone (PTH). This causes an increase in calcium levels in the blood, and this condition is known as hypercalcemia. The symptoms of hyperparathyroidism are tiredness, depression, constipation, mild confusion, loss of concentration, muscle weakness, feeling sick and thirsty, and loss of appetite.
