Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
From age 20 to 40, I had consistent blood pressure readings of 140/90 mmHg. Many doctors said it was prehypertension and not to be treated yet. After my 40s, my systolic pressure started getting into the 150s, and I went on a beta blocker and then tablet Lisinopril. For the last ten years, my BP has been consistent. Please help.
Kindly advise.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Your question was left incomplete, so kindly look into it. It would help if you maintained a healthy lifestyle, such as avoiding fatty, oily, and high-calorie foods. Follow a low-salt diet and monitor blood pressure 3 times a day for 1 week, then once or twice a week.
If blood pressure is persistently more than 140/90 mmHg, medicines must be increased. Regular exercises like brisk walking and jogging, according to your capacity, for at least 30 minutes a day and five days a week. Eat lots of green leafy vegetables, fruits, and fish once or twice a week, and avoid meat. Avoid smoking and alcohol, if any. Weight loss will help in reducing blood pressure.
I hope this helps you get back to me if you have any doubts.
Thank you.
