Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 22 years old and had sex for the first time a few years back. I took a tablet of I-pill on the same day. Later I got my periods like a normal cycle. Then had sex again after a few days and took a tablet I-pill again. My period cycle looks like not a normal cycle. Again after a few days, I had sex and consumed an I-pill. After that, I had my normal menstrual cycle the next month. But this time my period cycle was late and I have been having abdominal pain and symptoms of pregnancy. What should I do? I am extremely confused..
Please help.
Thanks and regards.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
The first i-Pill is not a ‘use when required medicine. It is an emergency contraceptive pill. This means if you think the routine contraceptive method fails then take it as an emergency. When you take I-pill like this, it is very difficult to say whether it worked or not. But now do a urine pregnancy test and if positive then you are pregnant and you need to do sonography (a diagnostic medical process that creates dynamic visual images of organs, tissues, or blood flow inside the body using high-frequency sound waves) on an urgent basis if there is abdominal pain. And if it is negative then the chances of the delayed period are more. Get consulted by a gynecologist. You may require some medicines for the periods to come. And after the period starts use normal contraception routinely. As i-Pill is only 70 % effective and has a 30 % failure rate.

Thanks and regards.
