Can back pain and vomiting be symptoms of pregnancy or PMS?

Hello doctor,

I am planning for pregnancy. This is my second one. I got my last period at the beginning of last month. We had unprotected sex on or before the day of my ovulation. I am getting some symptoms like backache, abdominal cramps on the right side, vomiting after eating anything, and watery-like urine discharge. I will conceive or it is PMS (premenstrual syndrome). I am really confused. Please explain.

Your last period was at the beginning of the last month. If your cycle is around 28 to 30 days, ovulation will likely occur around the middle of the month. You had unprotected sex very likely on or just after ovulation, which is within the fertile window, and it is an optimal timing for conception.

Some early pregnancy symptoms can overlap with PMS (premenstrual syndrome), but there are a few differences to consider. Watery or milky white cervical discharge that increases post-ovulation and continues could be a sign of early pregnancy, due to rising progesterone levels.

Implantation generally happens six to ten days after ovulation. So in these ten days, implantation can happen for you. That means right now, you are potentially 11 to 13 days past ovulation (DPO). It is the prime time to take a pregnancy test. Based on sex timing (ideal for conception), presence of nausea or vomiting, watery discharge, and no history of medical issues, pregnancy is very possible. Your symptoms and timing fit well.
