Incompatible Blood Types

The blood groups of the fetus and the mother may be different. The blood groups can sometimes be incompatible, such as in Rh incompatibility disease. Rh factor is a special protein that is present in the blood cells. If the Rh factor protein is present, it is considered Rh positive group, and if it is absent, it is considered Rh negative blood group. If the baby is Rh-positive and the mother is Rh-negative, the mother's immune system produces antibodies against the baby, which can be dangerous.
