Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have been suffering from indigestion, bloating, and nausea for three months. I took a PPI and Mebeverine, and other medications, after which I felt relief for some time. But the symptoms have started again.
Please help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com
I understand your concern; it can feel really uncomfortable and frustrating. Since you have already tried medicines like proton pump inhibitors (PPI) and Mebeverine with only temporary relief, it may be worth looking at a combination of diet, lifestyle habits, and specialist guidance.
A few things that often help with digestion:
Eat smaller, more frequent meals instead of heavy ones.
Limit foods that can trigger gas and bloating, such as spicy, oily, and fried foods, carbonated drinks, caffeine, and excess sugar.
Try to identify if dairy, wheat, or very high-fiber foods make your symptoms worse.
Add more simple, easily digestible foods like soups, steamed veggies, rice, bananas, and curd (if tolerated).
Eat slowly, chew well, and avoid lying down right after meals. Wait at least two to three hours before bed.
Stay active, as gentle walks after meals can really help digestion.
Manage stress, since anxiety can worsen gut symptoms. You must try breathing exercises, meditation, or any activity you find relaxing.
Ensure adequate hydration throughout the day. Since your symptoms have persisted for three months, it would be wise to consult a gastroenterologist. They may want to check for conditions like gastritis, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), food intolerances, or infections or ulcers.
I hope this answers your query.
Thank you.
