Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 29-year-old man with IBS-D, and it is ruining my life. I cannot go on dates, I am afraid to eat out, and I am always looking for bathrooms. I have had embarrassing accidents at work. I am living on Imodium (loperamide) and barely eating. I have lost 33 pounds in three months. My boss is getting annoyed with all my sick days. Is there any cure for this? I have tried every diet– low FODMAP, gluten-free, dairy-free. Nothing helps. The cramps are unbearable sometimes. I am depressed and anxious all the time. Any new treatments out there?
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
I am here to help you with your symptoms of IBS (irritable bowel syndrome- a gastrointestinal disorder characterized by abdominal pain, bloating, and changes in bowel habits like diarrhea, constipation, or both). I can understand the impact of your disease, which has disturbed your life.
First of all, you must know that IBS is due to a stressful life plus anxiety. Before going to treat your abdominal symptoms, you need to treat your stress and anxiety, which are the main triggers of your disease. When your stress and anxiety improve, your abdominal symptoms improve by themselves.
However, your abdominal symptoms also need treatment until your psychosocial life is not improved. I will help you to cope with both of your concerns after taking a proper history of your previous treatment and symptoms. I will be waiting for your reply to help you further to get you to heal as early as possible.
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards.
