Intra articular hyaluronic injections involve administering hyaluronic acid injections into the joint capsule. It is normally performed in the knee joint of someone suffering from knee osteoarthritis. After applying a local anesthetic agent to the area, the doctor will drain out some of the inflamed fluid from the swollen knee first. Then inject the hyaluronic acid into the joint capsule for lubrication and better functioning of the joint.
