What are the reasons for an early period?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 24-year-old married lady. Two months ago, I had sex with my husband. We used protection, and after that, I had my normal periods two times. A week ago, I was talking to my husband on the phone, and I was having a sex drive, but I did nothing to satisfy it.

All of a sudden, I realized some blood was coming out of my vagina. It is like having a period, and I feel pain in my left ovary, lower abdomen, and thighs; it was not my period date. It came only once, and after that, I did not notice any bleeding, but I noticed some black-colored blood clots, not too big, while using the washroom.

Now, my period is expected to come after two days, but today I started having period black discharge coming, with some small clots, no smell, no symptoms, just my body feeling exhausted and tired. Usually, I have pain and cramps during periods, especially when starting.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Well, I am deeply concerned about your worries. According to your complaint, the bleeding and small clots you noticed may be related to your menstrual cycle, especially since you have a history of irregular periods. Nothing to worry about, everything is fine.

I will advise you if you are not planning a pregnancy for the coming three months to use oral contraceptive pills to correct your menstrual cycle.

  1. Tablet YAZ (Ethinylestradiol 0.02 milligrams and Drospirenone 3 milligrams) starts on the second day of the period and continues for 21 days, then 7 days off, then repeat the same routine for three months.

  2. Tablet Folic acid 5 milligrams, once at night for three months. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her, and take the medicines with their consent.

Do not worry, I assure you there is no huge problem, and I hope you understand my points.

I hope this has helped you.

Please feel free to reach out to me again in case of further queries.

Thank you.
