Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My sister, who is 28, has been dealing with stomach problems for years and was recently told she has IBS-D. She always has to run to the bathroom after eating, especially when anxious. Does stress make it worse? She tried eating bland food, but it did not seem to help. Does that mean she will have to avoid spicy food forever? The doctor mentioned something about her gut being sensitive. Why does she have cramps? Can this condition cause her to lose weight over time? She is also taking probiotics. How long will it take them to work? Is it normal for her to feel bloated even if she has not eaten much? Should she stop drinking coffee because of her IBS?
Thanks.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
1. Kindly get vitamin D3, B12, and thyroid hormone levels checked.
2. Add Isabgol husk two to three teaspoonful at night.
3. Take Zinc tablets for two weeks.
4. Add probiotics. It can be taken on a regular basis.
5. Avoid processed food, spices, and fatty meals.
6. Ensure regular walk or exercise.
Get back with reports. IBD (irritable bowel syndrome) aggravates if there is a lack of sleep or stress. Psychiatric consultation does help.
I hope this information will help you.
Thank you.
