Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

As I was having diarrhea constantly, along with abdominal pain, and other related symptoms, I consulted a physician and was diagnosed with bowel disease. My physician had asked me to take Linzess 290 mcg every day. I have been taking it for the last two weeks and my symptoms seem to be reducing. However what should I do if I skipped it for one day, should I be taking two tablets the next day? Will my condition get worse if I miss the tablet for one day? When will I get complete relief from such symptoms?? Please suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Tablet Linzess (Linaclotide) is a relatively new treatment for irritable bowel disease and you are responding to treatment that is great. If you miss the dose, do not worry, there is no need to take two pills the next day. Once your symptoms improve, you will gradually taper it off, like taking medicine on alternate days. Meanwhile, add probiotics (healthy bacteria) to your diet. I suggest you avoid eating out or reheating meals, and alcohol (if any) and avoid stress or overthinking because irritable bowel disease worsens with stress and will get better when you relax. I hope this information helps you.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
