How to manage IBS?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) problems like constipation. I take capsule Colospa retard, and tablet Esomac 40. Now, I have problem with sleeping. Please suggest some medicine.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

For sleeping problems, you can try non-medical measures like:

  1. Avoid watching television (TV) at night before sleeping.

  2. Go to bed one or two hours after eating dinner.

  3. Take a light meal at night.

  4. Take one glass of milk before going to sleep.

  5. Avoid late-night calls.

  6. Do practice exercise for one hour daily.

If the sleeping problems still continues, then a tablet Zolpidem (benzodiazepines), like sedative sleeping pill for short time can be prescribed.

Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medications with their consent.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
