Is it possible to eliminate black worms after using Ivermectin?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I took Ivermectin and got rid of a lot of black worms. I took five doses over five days and discharged many black worms. I went to the ER (estrogen receptors) and checked with my PCP (progesterone receptor test), and because I had not brought in a worm, I was diagnosed with a mental illness. However, I am a psychologist and have no history of psychosis.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Kindly share pictures of the worms that you seem to have expelled after Ivermectin (Stromectol) for five days. If not, please share the pictures that you seem to have of 'thread-like worms'. Also, kindly share the prescription and dosage strength taken.Tablet Ivermectin (Stromectol) is not needed for more than three days and is usually prescribed along with other anthelmintics if needed.

Also, kindly let me know the reason and share the prescription for taking the tablet Norco (Hydrocodone), tablet Adderall (Amphetamine), and tablet Wellbutrin (Bupropion hydrochloride).

Is the estradiol that you are taking on prescription? What is the reason for conception or hormone replacement therapy? Since there is no age listed, it is not possible to figure it out. Or is the usage for some other reason?

Also, you mentioned that you are a doctor and also mentioned that you are a psychologist. Usually, medics specialize in psychiatry. Psychology is not considered a medical school-taught subject. However, irrespective of that, it appears that you have already consulted a psychiatrist for anxiety (excessive worry) and or concomitant depression (prolonged sadness), considering the medications enlisted.

Kindly clarify the above so that we can discuss further regarding your ailment.

I hope this information will help you.

Kindly revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I have scoliosis and lumbar disk disease. Norco is only 5 milligrams as needed. Estradiol is HRT (hormone replacement therapy). Adderall is for ADD. I am in the United States and my Doctor of Clinical Forensic Psychology is sufficient for me to practice. I treat patients all day long. I mostly focus on patients with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). None of the doctors I went to would look at my pictures. No blood tests or essays were run on me. I took the Ivermectin two years ago. 3 milligrams for 5 days because I thought I had caught something from my dog. The thread like worms move wearily and are still emerging from my skin.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read and understand your concern.

As per CDC, there is always a possibility of zoonotic parasitic transmission from dogs. More than 60 distinct zoonotic disease subtypes are associated with dogs. These include Giardia, tapeworm (Taenia), Echinococcus, Dipylidium, Toxocara, hookworm. (Ancylostoma), Capillaria, and Trichuris are some of the most common intestinal parasites that infect dogs and in turn humans.Among these worms, based on your narration, the following worms are likely- 1) Hookworm- several hookworm species, including Ancylostoma brazilense, A.caninum, A. ceylanicum, and Uncinaria stenocephala.are among the common causative worms. Human infection can also happen by oral route through smear infection or ingestion of contaminated food. 2) Threadworm- Strongyloides stercoralis is found worldwide, the reservoir and definitive host are foxes, dogs and cats, especially puppies and kittens. Similar to hookworms, the filariform third-stage larvae penetrate the skin of the host, but they can also be ingested orally. Is there any chance that you have walked barefoot in the places you have gone for dog walking? Also, you have mentioned that you have experienced worms moving through the skin. If so, this could be possible. 3) Roundworm- Rarely, the dog roundworm (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina) can also infect humans. If humans, ingest the infectious eggs, the larvae (larva migrans) may migrate through various tissues and organs after hatching. This may cause visceral toxocariasis (VT) or visceral larva migrans (VLM), with a reduced general condition, fever, cough, apathy, weight loss, nephritis, myocarditis, and in rare, serious cases with CNS involvement (neurotoxocariasis). 4) Giardia- Overall, just over 2 % of dogs harboured potentially zoonotic assemblages of G. duodenalis in the studied communities and hence pose a minimal zoonotic risk for the transmission of Giardia to humans.

Looking forward to your response in order to help you.

Thank you.
