How can exercise-related joint injuries be managed?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 18 years old. I have joint injuries from bad exercise at the gym. I have pain in my right wrist, shoulder, back, and elbows. I rested for three months, but they are not gone.

Please suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and can understand your concern.

Insufficient exercise at the gym can cause muscle strain, ligament sprain, and bone cartilage damage. You should rest until your pain subsides and take medicine.

Take one tablet of Pregabalin 75 mg at night for 15 days before food at 7 pm every day, one tablet of Etoricoxib 60 mg in the morning and at night for ten days after food, one tablet of Rabeprazole 20 mg in the morning and at night for ten days before food, one tablet of Shelcal 500 mg in the morning and at night for 30 days before food, and one tablet of Vitamin D 60K units once daily for ten days, and then take it once a month for 11 months.

Take these tablets only if you are not allergic to them. Do not take these tablets if you have bronchial asthma.

Some instructions to follow to reduce back pain are,

  1. Avoid lifting heavy weights.

  2. Avoid arching your back. Instead, bend your knees to pick up something from the floor.

  3. Avoid sitting for long hours.

  4. Avoid two-wheeler rides.

  5. Improve your posture while sitting.

  6. Try to get up from your chair every 20 minutes, take a quick walk around, and then continue working. Always sit on a chair with back support.

  7. Do not get up suddenly from the sleeping position. Rather, turn to the side and then get up.

  8. Take bed rest if you have severe pain.

  9. Do hot fomentations locally over the affected area at least twice daily.

  10. The medicines will work for pain everywhere. Let me know if it is possible to get X-rays done for me to see.

I hope this answers your query.

Let me know if I need to assist you further.
