Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My 19-year-old son has severe knee damage from a football accident. An online clinic suggested stem cell therapy, but we are confused. Is this treatment safe for someone his age, or could it affect his growth? What exactly happens during the procedure? His college scholarship depends on his recovery, but we are scared of trying something experimental that might make things worse in the long run. Insurance will not cover it, so we need to be sure before spending our savings.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
I have gone through the detailed history you have given.
Honestly, stem cell therapy is not a US FDA (United States Food and Drug Administration)- approved treatment for this condition. It is better to go for intra-articular steroid, hyaluronic acid injection, or platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection treatment.
All these are US FDA-approved treatments for this condition.
I wish you good health.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Thank you.
