Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a lock in my knees and sometimes I have bad pain. I have inflammation inside and down my knees. When I go upstairs I feel weakness in my knees. My doctor recognized it was bone friction and prescribed me Glucosamine sulfate and Chondroitin sulfate with knee exercises and a brace.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. The symptoms that you describe are called patellofemoral compression syndrome. I would suggest you do quadricep strengthening exercises, hamstring strengthening exercises, and cycling with the seat raised is the best exercise in the gym for this. Try and avoid squatting, you may need to see a physiotherapist for patellae taping.

I am not sure of Glucosamine as studies are not sure of their benefits, as long as you are benefiting then take them otherwise stop them. Take anti-inflammatory tablets like Diclofenac Etoricoxib or Etodolac for pain.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Regards.
