Patient's Query

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I read your query and understand your concern. We are here to address all your health-related queries.

I went through the scan you have attached (the attachment was removed to protect the patient’s identity). This condition is called chronic periodontitis. This is a condition usually seen in old-age patients. Plaque deposits on the teeth, if we do not clean it up properly it gets hardened and it is known as calculus. When plaque and calculus stay for a long time it affects gums and jaw bone. When the jaw bone is affected it loses its strength and the tooth gets loosened when there is bone loss. Finally the tooth falls off. So it is necessary to clean all the plaque, calculus, and dead tissues around the affected tooth. By that the tooth becomes healthy and further destruction can be prevented. The dentist has suggested the right treatment. So you can go ahead with the surgery. It is called periodontal surgery, to repair the affected surrounding tissues of the tooth.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
