Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
There is a small lump near the vaginal entrance after having sex (my partner and I always use protection). It does not have any color; it is a kind of solid lump that only hurts when I squeeze it.
Other than that, I am fine. What is the fastest way to get rid of it, and how can I prevent it?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query, and I understand that noticing any new or unexpected change in an intimate area can naturally cause worry and discomfort. Situations like this are commonly reported and, in many cases, are not serious in nature.
It is also quite normal to feel anxious when something unfamiliar appears suddenly, even if there are no other troubling symptoms.
A small lump near the vaginal entrance after sex that is solid and only painful when squeezed is most often due to a blocked gland or small cyst, such as a sebaceous or Bartholin’s cyst. Since you use protection and have no fever, unusual discharge, or spreading pain, it is usually not something serious.
Warm sitz baths for 10 to 15 minutes, two to three times daily, can help it drain and heal faster. Avoid squeezing it and wear loose cotton underwear to prevent irritation, as most small cysts settle on their own within days to weeks.
To prevent recurrence, maintain good hygiene, and consider using a water-based lubricant to reduce friction during intercourse. If the lump becomes larger, very painful, red, or is associated with fever or difficulty walking or sitting, consult a gynecologist promptly for proper evaluation and treatment.
I hope this helps.
Thanks and regards.
