What causes lumps with pus on the hard palate?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have a painful lump on the hard palate near the upper tooth which is swollen and releases blood and pus. It also causes a strong bad smell. May I know why it is so? Could you please help me to get out of it?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Any blood, pus, or abscess containing or releasing oral lumps are either indicative of an underlying systemic infection or would be a very acute or chronic form of local disease. The hard palate is a sensitive area where the bones are fragile and can be prone to pathologic fractures. I need to know if anyone in your family history has any cancers or any major medical issues or if you are on any medications. The other thing is, if possible, you can enclose the picture. In case you can not take the picture, elaborate here with me describing this lump so I can assist you in the right diagnosis that can be useful for your healing. These lumps cannot be left untreated, so I advise you to pay immediate attention.
Let me know if you have any other concerns.
Thank you.
