Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had a leg injury during the long jump due to the uneven distribution of sand. Kindly help me understand the results of the MRI report that says the following.
1. Moderate joint effusion with fluid level.
2. Bone contusion in medial tibial plateau.
3. Fluid signal in medial meniscus and tibial plateau(Meniscus avulsion - floating meniscus).
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
Meniscus are little cartilages on both sides of the knee and its injury during sports is very common. Hemarthrosis can be due to blood in the joint mixed with synovial fluid. A contusion is a blunt injury and avulsion is like pealing off something. Landing on the sand in the reverse direction can stretch the meniscus and the joint capsule and the hit on your leg bone can cause a contusion leading to blood oozing out most probably from blood vessels around the joint.
Kindly consult a specialist for proper examination and management of your injury.
I hope this information will help you.
Thank you
