Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I would like to request some advice on behalf of my mom. She is 65 years old, with a height of 5.3 feet and a weight of 154 pounds. She has been taking several medications for her high blood pressure, but quite often, it goes over 200/200 mmHg. When this happens, her cheeks become red, and she feels extremely unwell. The list of medications she is currently taking includes tablets Levothyroxine100 mg, Clopidogrel 75 mg, Doxazosin, Rilmenidine 1mg, Valsartan 160 mg, and a combination of Bisoprolol and Hydrochlorothiazide. She has seen several doctors, but her condition has not improved, and I cannot bear to see her suffer anymore. Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I am sorry to hear about your mom's health issues. I have read your explanation and understand your concern. It seems that your mother is displaying symptoms of malignant hypertension, which is a condition where blood pressure becomes extremely elevated, often exceeding 180/120 mmHg. This condition can be caused by various factors, including kidney disease, collagen disorders, and others. The treatment approach should be based on identifying the underlying cause. I strongly suggest that she consult a cardiologist and undergo a series of tests, such as an ECHO (echocardiogram) and kidney function tests, to determine the root cause of her condition. This will help in developing an appropriate treatment plan.
I hope this helps.
Please revert so I can assist you further.
Thank you.
