Can masturbation cause high heart rate and sleep issues?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am an 18-year-old male facing a problem related to ejaculation after masturbation. I cannot sleep; my heart rate becomes fast, and I always feel anxious. It takes up to four hours to go away before I can sleep. It all started when I began taking Telfast (Fexofenadine hydrochloride) sinus medication pills. But after I stopped, it started decreasing, but there are still glimpses of it. Also, after ejaculation, I have a tingling sensation in my reproductive organs for about an hour. I stopped taking Telfast around two months ago but still experience some symptoms, like an increased heart rate. It is also worth noting that sometimes when I was taking Telfast medication, I could not sleep until I masturbated a second time. It is like I masturbate once, but then I get these symptoms that I stated earlier, and then I masturbate again before I can sleep.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Thanks for trusting us with your health care.

I can understand your concern.

Regarding your symptoms, I believe your chronic masturbation is affecting your heart rate. When you masturbate every time, it gradually decreases the blood volume, leading to anemia, which is why you are feeling those symptoms. So please reduce the frequency of masturbation to twice a week, and I suggest you take the following:

  1. Take two tablets of Ferrous sulfate 220 mg orally three times a day for one month.
  2. Take one tablet of Propranolol 10 mg orally once daily for two weeks. Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and take the medications with their consent.

If your symptoms persist, schedule another appointment for follow-up via chat, phone, or video consultation.

Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further.

Thank you.
