Can masturbation cause penis discoloration and numbness?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am experiencing an issue with my penis. Every time I masturbate, it turns a deep blue or purplish color. I have been masturbating for the past five years, almost daily, except on days when I feel very tired, unwell, or not in the mood. In the early years, I used to masturbate around seven to eight times in one session, often having two such sessions a day. Over time, I reduced the frequency, but recently I have started doing it again excessively, sometimes around 10 to 12 times in a single sitting. I have lost count of how many sessions I have in a day. Lately, I have noticed that the tip of my penis feels cold and slightly numb. However, the discoloration usually resolves within a few seconds (up to eight seconds) after I ejaculate or stop masturbating. There is no pain, swelling, or other visible symptoms. I have also observed that my semen has become more watery, although it still has some thickness. The pre-ejaculate fluid appears to be completely watery. I am concerned about these changes and would like to know if they are harmful or if I need medical attention.
Kindly advise.
Hello,
Welcome to iCliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Masturbating very frequently, such as 10 to 12 times per session, multiple times a day, can lead to temporary changes in the penis, including discoloration, numbness, and watery semen. These symptoms are often due to overuse and irritation. The blue or purplish color is likely the result of blood pooling or mild bruising from intense or repeated activity. It is important to reduce the frequency of masturbation to allow the penis adequate time to recover.
Try spacing out sessions and avoid using a very tight grip or aggressive technique. Staying well-hydrated and managing stress levels can also be helpful. Watery semen is not uncommon with frequent ejaculation and often returns to normal with adequate rest. However, if the numbness or color changes persist or worsen over time, it is advisable to consult a healthcare provider. If you are feeling anxious or distressed about your habits or symptoms, speaking with a doctor or mental health counselor can provide additional support and guidance.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
