Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am an 18-year-old girl suffering from a huge problem with my menstrual cycle for the last three years. I am facing problems like heavy blood flow with a long duration of up to 19 days I visited the doctor at that time he said it is because of hormonal changes and he also said to do a thyroid check but nothing came out. Now I am again facing it but this time I am having cramps. I never use to have them before. Currently, I am on my period and today is my third day but the blood flow is really heavy. What to do? Kindly suggest.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thanks for trusting us with your health care. I have gone through your history and understand your concerns. Menstrual irregularities in your case, could be due to hormonal imbalance caused by PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). PCOS is an endocrinal disorder in which hormonal imbalance occurs due to cysts in the ovary and causes facial hair growth and weight gain. As it is a lifestyle disease, you have to change your lifestyle, eat a high-protein diet with lots of vegetables and fruits, and exercise regularly. Get your hemoglobin, HbA1c (hemoglobin A1c), and TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) levels. There is no need to worry about it and take progesterone for withdrawal bleeding. I hope you found this useful, feel free to ask for more information.
Thank you.
