Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am a 25-year-old research student, and I have recently become aware of the issue of plastic pollution and its health impacts. I am particularly interested in understanding how microplastics in bottled water contribute to plastic pollution. Can you explain the connection between bottled water, microplastics, and the larger issue of plastic pollution? Are there health risks associated with consuming water containing microplastics? What alternatives or measures can individuals take to reduce their exposure to microplastics?
Hi,
Thank you for trusting us with your healthcare.
I have reviewed your medical history and understand your concerns.
There are two types of plastics that come from natural sources like trees and glue, and that type of plastic does not harm the environment. But nowadays, they are making it synthetic, which is harmful to the environment and the human body as well. This is cheap plastic and should be avoided. Some people are using this cheap plastic, and they do not really clean it from the inside. Due to that, some particles mix with the water, and if someone brings it, there are chances that it might go inside our body and cause symptoms like diarrhea, vomiting, and gastritis. Other health issues, such as obstructive lung diseases and cardiovascular diseases, may also occur, so try to avoid such products. If there is anything else, please let me know.
