Does cryotherapy for molluscum contagiosum help?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am having molluscum contagiosum on my skin. It is just above my penis and on the skin of the right side ball. I can send pictures if you want. I tried the ointment, but it is not going away. It is increasing. What can I do?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have viewed the images (attachment removed to protect patient identity). How long have you been using this cream? Are you willing for a removal? If yes, for molluscum, I suggest either freezing with liquid nitrogen or chemical cauterization with Trichloroacetic acid.

A dermatologist would do it for you, or do you want to try out a medical treatment? If yes, Imiquimod is an option.

I hope it helps.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

It has been four weeks, maybe. I want these to go away as fast as possible. What is the best treatment?

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Get them either frozen (with liquid nitrogen) or fulgurated with electrocautery or chemical cauterization with Trichloroacetic acid.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
