Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I do not understand how to start this, but I am mentally unstable. I feel I am having a lot of mood swings and suicidal thoughts. I used to self-harm, and I barely understand why, but every time I see something dangerous, I imagine myself dying from it. For example, if I am looking at a pool, I would imagine drowning myself. I also suffer from insomnia. I cannot even sleep when I am tired and can not stop thinking about suicidal feelings. I go from happy to sad in a matter of seconds, and it is tiring me. My family does not take mental health seriously, so I cannot get real-life help. What is this? Please help.

For insomnia, the following steps can be taken
Sleep hygiene, such as sleeping and waking up at regular times
Avoiding caffeinated drinks at least eight hours before sleep
Avoiding the use of TV (television), mobile phones, laptops, etc., half an hour before sleep.
Engage in relaxing activities.
