Answer

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Severe nausea and vomiting in early pregnancy is called “morning sickness” or hyperemesis gravidarum. It occurs when nausea and vomiting are more intense and common, but can be exhausting and worrying. Here is a focused plan to help you feel better and know when to seek extra support.

1. First, how bad is it? Ask yourself. Are you keeping any fluids down? Have you lost weight since pregnancy started? Do you feel dizzy, weak, or dehydrated? If you are unable to eat or drink for more than 24 hours, you may need medical support to prevent dehydration and malnutrition.

2. What you can do at home:

a. Immediate tips for nausea relief: Take small sips of water, electrolyte drinks, ginger tea, lemon water, or clear broth often. Eat small bites, frequently like salty crackers, toast, apple slices, or rice. Avoid strong smells and greasy or spicy foods. Try cold or bland foods (room temperature often triggers less nausea). Take B6 and Doxylamine (Unisom sleep tablets). This combo is safe and first-line in pregnancy for nausea. Ask your OB (obstetrician and gynecologist) about dosing.

3. Supplements and safe meds:

Take Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) 25 mg three times daily (OTC (over the counter), safe). Take Ginger 250 mg up to four times a day, or ginger chews or tea. Take your prescription medicines. If the symptoms worsen, your doctor might suggest Diclegis (Doxylamine succinate and Pyridoxine hydrochloride), Zofran (Ondansetron), or Reglan (Metoclopramide).

4. See a doctor immediately if you cannot keep fluids down for more than 12 to 24 hours. You lose weight or feel very weak. You have dark urine or pee very little and have signs of dehydration, such as dry mouth, dizziness, and rapid heartbeat.

I hope this answers your query.

Let me know if I need to assist you further.

Thank you.
