Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 31 years old, conceiving for five months now. I had two miscarriages in the last three years at week six. I also have the MTHFR gene in my body. Recently, I noticed pink discharge and light bleeding from days 10 to 15 of my cycle. It is irregular, and I do not have heavy bleeding; I just happened to notice it when I wiped with a tissue.
I have taken MTHFR medicine for two months, around seven months ago. I am worried about my pregnancy. Can you please give me some suggestions?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq,
I have gone through your case, and I understand your concern.
I believe you must have done various investigations and USG (ultrasonography) scans. It would be better if I saw them so that I can help you better. Due to the MTHFR (methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase) gene mutation, there will be improper utilization of folic acid in the body, which can lead to miscarriage. But there is no need to be worried about it, as many women with the MTHFR gene mutation have given birth to a normal child.
In this situation, you have to be patient, as it might take some time. I would suggest that you take a proper diet along with the medications suggested by the doctor for the best results.
The spotting you noticed might be ovulation bleeding. Sometimes, during ovulation, some spotting can occur, and that is normal.
I hope this helps.
Kindly revert so I can assist you further.
Thank you.
