How to manage persisting symptoms of MS effectively?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 55 years old. I have had MS for 10 years now, and I take my medicines regularly. But I still feel very dizzy most days, and my arms and legs feel weak. Sometimes I struggle to even hold my coffee cup or walk to the mailbox. I am doing everything you told me, but these problems are not going away. My wife needs to help me with many daily tasks now. Is there anything else I can do to feel better? Will I ever get completely cured of MS? Should I try different medicines? I am really tired of feeling this way every day.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Unfortunately, up to now there is no cure for MS (multiple sclerosis), but we can decrease as much as possible the complications. Disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) can reduce the frequency and severity of the attacks. Different types of medications are available to decrease inflammation and slow the progression of the disease.

Recent treatment:

  1. Ocrevus Zunovo (Ocrelizumab and Hyaluronidase) subcutaneous injection for relapsing cases.

  2. Ocrelizumab IV (intravenous) injection.

  3. Vitamin B12 injection to promote myelin repair.

Certain tips are available to increase remissions:

  1. Stop smoking.

  2. Get enough sleep.

  3. Exercises.

  4. Sunlight exposure.

  5. Learning new skills.

  6. Eating healthy food: liver, shellfish, crab, fermented cheese, eggs, and tofu.

I hope this has helped you.

Please feel free to reach me again, in case of further queries.

Thank you.
