Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 29-year-old woman. My vision has been getting blurred, and I was recently told that I have myopia. I am so anxious about the potential complications and what the future holds. Can you please help me understand the risks associated with myopia and if there is a chance that it could lead to blindness? Is there anything I can do to prevent further deterioration, or are there treatments that could help me keep my vision? My power is -1.75 in the right eye and -1.5 in the left eye. Can you give me some guidance on how to manage my myopia and what steps I can take to protect my eyesight?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern about your symptoms.

You have mild myopia, and this is a very common condition. The chances of blindness are less, and it usually happens in patients with pathological myopia. Blindness may be due to retinal detachment, etc. At your age, myopia usually does not progress. You cannot do anything to stop myopia progression except reduce near work, including less screen time. Regular eye check, including fundus examination, is recommended. Do not worry. You are very safe from these conditions.

I hope this answers your query.

Follow-up in case of doubts.

Regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
