Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Ever since I started a keto diet, it has been great. Up until recently, I started to cheat and eat ice cream every few days. Now I have a pretty strong lingering nausea that has not gone away for weeks with no appetite. How to resolve this issue fast?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

If you have been experiencing lingering nausea and loss of appetite after cheating on your keto diet, it is possible that your body is reacting to the change in dietary habits. Here are a few suggestions that may help:

1. Return to your regular keto diet: Reverting to your original keto diet may help your body readjust and alleviate the symptoms. Focus on consuming low-carb, high-fat foods and avoid sugary or high-carb foods like ice cream.

2. Stay hydrated: Make sure you are drinking enough water throughout the day to stay hydrated. Dehydration can sometimes contribute to feelings of nausea.

3. Eat small, frequent meals: Instead of large meals, try eating smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day. This can help manage nausea and make it easier for your body to digest food.

4. Incorporate gentle, easy-to-digest foods: Stick to foods that are gentle on the stomach, such as broth, plain rice, boiled or baked chicken, or steamed vegetables. These foods may be easier to tolerate when experiencing nausea.

5. Consider ginger or peppermint: Ginger and peppermint are known for their potential anti-nausea properties. You could try consuming ginger tea, ginger candies, or peppermint tea to see if they provide any relief.

I hope you find these tips helpful.

Thanks and regards.
