Can piercings impair feeding and cause nipple numbness?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 21-year-old female thinking about getting my nipples pierced. I have researched a lot before going through with it, and I am just worried about how this could affect my future. Will I lose feelings in my nipples? And I plan on having kids one day in the future. I know the piercings would be healed by then. But I just wanted a professional opinion on whether I should or not. I have small breasts and am usually insecure about them, so I feel like these piercings would boost my self-confidence. In general, I have always wanted them. Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Now this is a tricky question. The actual answer is that it will not affect at all, or it can affect you. In both conditions, "the sensation and feeding baby after delivery." Everything depends on which part is pierced during the procedure and how your body is healing. And according to that, there will be sensation loss, and sometimes feeding problems have been seen. So it can be both sides. And no one can predict how your body reacts, the exact anatomy, and what part to pierce to minimize nerve injury and sensation loss. Many people have gone through this and do not have any side effects. And even some have better experience also. So it depends on your own choice ultimately. Whether you want to take this risk or not?
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards.
