How to manage OCD effectively with medicines at 25?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor, I am 25 years old. I have been suffering from OCD for the past year. I often feel the urge to touch things repeatedly, and I have a lot of overthinking, stress, and unwanted thoughts. I have not taken any medicine yet, and have not consulted any psychiatrist before. My height is 5 feet 7 inches, and my weight is 154.32 pounds. Please suggest a suitable medicine and treatment plan for me. Also, let me know if I need to take therapy or any further tests. Please help. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Thank you for seeking help from a psychiatrist. I can understand your problem and situation. You may have OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder). You need medication, but it is dependent upon the severity of symptoms. I need further details for evaluation to help you. You can start with a capsule of Fluoxetine 20 mg daily in the morning after breakfast. This one will help you if you have OCD. You also need a prescription for this medicine.

I would suggest that you do a consultation with a psychiatrist for better management.

I hope this helps.

Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.

Thank you.
