Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My facial muscles change when I am stressed. For example, sometimes, when I cut my hair, my facial texture smoothens, and my hair curls up. I do not know if it is my facial nerves or just the muscles. I have been told my face needs to breathe. Can you help?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Facial muscle contractions associated with stressful situations occur with hypocalcemia and other nutrient deficiencies like vitamin D and magnesium.

Stress can cause rapid breathing, which causes blood alkalosis, and hypocalcemia, which affects the muscles of the face.

Do you have hand tremors, numbness around the mouth, or anxiety disorder?

I suggest you check your body electrolytes level, and I also suggest you take one Calcium tablet 500 mg twice daily after meals. However, please consult a specialist doctor, discuss with them and start taking the medications with their consent.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
